So much to discover with Dorset Library Service
With this year celebrated as the National Year of Reading, there’s no better time to rediscover the joy of books. From stories of exploration and scientific discovery to real‑world accounts that broaden our understanding, reading opens the door to new ideas and endless possibilities.
Although British Science Week has come to an end, its spirit lives on. The week highlighted how science helps us make sense of the world around us, just as reading encourages us to imagine new ones. Libraries play a vital role in nurturing curiosity. They provide access to trusted information, inspiring stories and ideas that help us explore new topics and tackle complex questions.
This month we are delighted to be taking part in the Words Alive in Libraries tour with South Western Regional Library Services and Literature Works.
In April we welcome prize‑winning author Fiona Williams to Wimborne Library to discuss her debut novel The House of Broken Bricks, a powerful story of family, belonging and identity set in the Somerset Levels. The event takes place on 30 April from 6pm to 7pm, with both in‑person and online options available.
Booking essential via Literature Works event tickets
