On Monday 24 August 2026, officers from our Force Critical Wanted Unit (FCWU), Salford Challenger Team, Stockport Challenger Team, Tactical Aid Unit (TAU) and specialist operational resources, alongside partners from Salford City Council, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), executed two warrants at a residential address in Salford Quays and a commercial premises on Gordon Street, Stockport.

The warrants follow an investigation into the suspected preparation, storage and exportation of liquid controlled drugs. Due to the potential presence of hazardous chemicals and substances associated with drug production, processing and packaging, officers and partner agencies attended in specialist protective equipment and operated under a coordinated multi-agency safety plan.

As a result, two men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of offences relating to the exportation of Class A and Class B controlled drugs. They remain in custody for questioning. A scene remains in place on Gordon Street whilst enquiries continue and specialist forensic examinations are completed.

Chief Superintendent John-Paul Ruffle, Tactical Commander for the operation, said: “Today’s successful result follows months of detailed investigation, partnership working and operational planning.

“Working alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), local authority partners and a range of specialist police resources, we have safely executed warrants, arrested two suspects and secured significant evidential opportunities.

“We believe this criminal operation had the potential to expose residents, workers and visitors to harmful substances and associated fire and safety risks. Public safety has been at the heart of our planning and decision-making throughout this operation.

“The coordinated multi-agency response has allowed us to safely manage those risks while ensuring that those suspected of being involved in serious organised criminality are brought before the courts.

“We will not tolerate the production, preparation or exportation of controlled drugs within our communities and will continue to pursue those involved relentlessly.
