Two more arrested in Basingstoke stabbing investigation

Two further arrests have been made in connection with a serious assault in Basingstoke earlier this month.

We were called at 9.32pm on Monday 7 September to a report that a man had been found with stab wounds on Normanton Road after he was assaulted on a footpath near Lyford Road.

The man, who is in his 50s, was taken to hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.

Yesterday (17 September) officers arrested a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from Basingstoke, on suspicion of attempted murder. They have been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

This comes after two 17-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, and a 14-year-old boy, all from Basingstoke, and a 17-year-old boy from Newbury, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They have been bailed with conditions, to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.

Our enquiries into the incident continue, and appeal for any witnesses to come forward.
