Grant scheme opens to support Dorset’s Arts and heritage sector
Arts and heritage organisations across Dorset are being invited to apply for funding through the latest round of Dorset Council’s Cultural Organisational Revenue Support Fund.
The fund helps not-for-profit organisations continue delivering cultural activities which enrich communities, support local economies and improve access to Arts, heritage and museum services for residents across the Dorset Council area.
Applications for Round 6 opened on 3 August 2026 and will close at midday on Monday 5 October 2026. Award decisions will be communicated by 31 December 2026.
Eligible organisations can apply for grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 per year for up to three years.
Alongside the Support Fund, Dorset Council will distribute £271,000 to accredited museums and £215,000 to Arts organisations over the next three years. The funding has been made available through central government support and aims to help strengthen Dorset’s cultural sector for the benefit of residents and visitors.
Applications will be assessed against a range of criteria, including the delivery of core cultural activity, innovative and progressive programming, strong community engagement and alignment with Dorset’s Cultural Strategy.
Cllr Richard Biggs, Dorset Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Growth and Strategic Assets, said: “Arts and heritage organisations play an important role in bringing people together, supporting wellbeing and helping communities thrive.
“This funding gives organisations greater certainty to plan ahead and continue providing activities and experiences that residents value.
“We are fortunate to have a vibrant cultural sector here in Dorset. I would encourage eligible organisations to find out more about the fund and consider applying.”
A free online information session will be held from 11am to 12pm on Wednesday 9 September 2026. The session will provide an overview of the fund, eligibility requirements and the assessment process and it will give organisations the opportunity to ask questions before submitting an application.
Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) and Community organisations cannot apply in this round.
