We are appealing for a specific witness to come forward who may have seen something to assist an ongoing sexual assault investigation.

It was reported to police that on 26 September, a 19-year-old woman encountered a man she did not know at a bus stop in Beachfield Road, Sandown.

The man repeatedly put his arm around the woman’s waist before touching her on the leg, despite her continued efforts to move away from him.

This man then got on the Number 8 bus at around 9pm.

During this time, a woman was stood slightly downhill from the Beachfield Road bus stop. We are keen to speak to this woman in case she saw or heard anything that could assist our enquiries.

The woman is described as black, wearing white over-the-ear headphones, a hoodie or jumper, dark trousers, dark shoes and a backpack. She also boarded the Number 8 bus.

If you are this woman, or you know her, please get in contact with police as soon as possible.

As part of enquiries, a 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been bailed until 2 January while our investigation continues.
