Gosport NPT secure full closure order

Yesterday (Thursday 16 April) PC Steve and PC Lynsey attended Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court to apply for a full closure order for the Easy Shop on Gosport High Street.

A closure full order has now been granted, which means that no-one will be allowed to enter or remain at the address for the next three months.

The closure order application was made in order to prevent the sale of illegal vapes, tobacco, cigarettes, and other products, as well as to prevent anti-social behaviour and underage sales.

The order was obtained following partnership work with our officers from our Neighbourhood Policing Team and Hampshire Trading Standards.

Sergeant Rhys McCarthy from the Gosport East Neighbourhood Policing Team said; “We are committed to addressing the sale of illegal tobacco products and the risks this presents to members of our community.

“This order gives us additional powers to arrest anyone entering or remaining on the premises. We are dedicated to tackling anti-social behaviour and criminal activity to ensure that everyone can feel safe without being impacted by crime in Gosport.

“If you have witnessed or been affected by anti-social behaviour, or have concerns around how a premise is operating in our town, then please continue to report it to police, so we can target our patrols and take further proactive action.”
