A man has been jailed following a shooting at a crowded motorcycle gathering, which left the victim fighting for their life.

Emad Al-Haj Shareef, 22 (02.11.2003), of Norman Crescent, Hounslow was today, Monday, 11 May, sentenced to 27 years in prison at Kingston Crown Court.

He was found guilty of attempted murder following the attack on a 19-year-old man at the large-scale gathering in Hayes, west London.

Officers uncovered CCTV footage which depicted Shareef at the scene, shooting the victim while riding his motorcycle.

Footage was also discovered in which Shareef rode away from the incident towards his home address, where he was arrested two days later before being subsequently charged.

Today’s sentencing comes as the Met continues to tackle the use of firearms, with the number of victims of lethal gunshot wounds reduced by 27 per cent in the last year.

Detective Constable Paulina Rosol, who led the investigation, said: “This case displays the consequences of gun violence, which can spill out onto our streets.

“Shareef went as far as to hide the weapon he used in a stolen vehicle, from which officers also seized the jacket he wore during the attack. This jacket was later found to have gunshot residue on it, directly implicating Shareef and shattering his facade of innocence.

“Last year alone we saw a 75 per cent increase in the number of firearms taken off London’s streets. We will continue to target those who carry them and use violence to threaten our communities.”

Officers were called to Hillingdon Hospital at 00:15 on Saturday, 23 August 2025 after staff reported that a patient had been brought in claiming he had been shot.

Earlier that night, at a motorcycle gathering attended by hundreds, the victim approached Shareef, who he did not know but was part of the same group.

Shareef proceeded to threaten the victim, who ran away. Shareef gave chase on his motorcycle, before firing at close range, with a bullet lodging in the victim’s neck.

A combination of CCTV footage and witness statements saw officers swiftly identify Shareef as the shooter. On Sunday, 24 August 2025, he was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

The firearm used in the shooting and a magazine were found in a stolen vehicle and were seized, along with the vehicle itself.

Extensive phone and social media work was conducted which placed Shareef at the scene. A video uploaded by him on Snapchat was also obtained early in the investigation, in which he recorded the gathering earlier in the day at Picadilly Circus.
