Man charged with offences including rape and stalking in Portsmouth
A man has been charged with offences including raping a 14-year-old child and stalking a woman in her 20s in Portsmouth.
On Tuesday 11 August, police received a report that a 14-year-old child had been raped in an alleyway off of London Road in Portsmouth, by a man they had spoken to on a bus but was not previously known to them.
It was reported that the incident had taken place between 7pm and 8pm on Thursday 6 August.
An investigation was launched and on Tuesday 1 September, we received a separate report from a woman in her 20s that a man who had been stalking her over the course of a year had criminally damaged a family member’s car.
Following enquiries into both incidents, Sadiq Farhad Azad, 33, who is an Iraqi national of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with the following offences:
• Rape of a boy aged 13/ 14/ 15 years of age
• Section 4a stalking
• Criminal damage to property – value under £5000
He has been remanded into custody to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday 7 September.
